NVIDIA Has GTX 580 In The Works

Looks like NVIDIA is going to brush off those HD 6000 series cards, and according to Fudzilla (yet again), they are getting close to introducing its GTX 580. The proposed card will use the GF110 GPU architecture and be the replacement for their flagship GTX 480.

NVIDIA’s GTX 580 will come packed with 512 CUDA cores, 128 texture units, and most likely 2GB of GDDR5 memory on a 512-bit memory bus. 3dcenter.org, a German site, lists other cards in the family with as many as 768 CUDA cores. We can say that, depending on the GPU, there can be a performance jump of 5% to 50% faster than the current GTX 480.

UPDATE: Apparently the monkeys running NVIDIA’s website accidentally listed the GTX 580 on the 3D Vision Requirements page (UK site), but they were pretty fast on realizing and the entry was quickly removed. Here’s the screenshot of it before the edit though:
