TSMC Prepares for 28nm Production

At the start of next year, TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) will start volume production of  its 28nm manufacturing process (according to Digitimes). They’ve been working at it in getting their equipment more capable for higher yields, and at the end of 2009 numbers were less than 50%. Now it sits at just over 90%, and before you’ll know it we’ll see much more powerful parts (e.g. CPUs and GPUs) than current existing low-cost and mid-range solutions. Currently it looks like AMD, Nvidia, Qualcomm, and Xilinx are the few committed clients.
