Start the Week with Driver Updates for your AMD/NVIDIA Card

In case you guys aren’t aware, both AMD and NVIDIA recently released drivers (an hotfix and a driver respectively, actually) emphasizing improvements for their latest cards. This probably isn’t a coincidence if you asked us, since we’re bound to also see some new stuff coming from both of them over the course of these couple days. Anyways here’s the breakdown, the AMD Catalyst 11.a Hotfix brings the following to the Radeon HD 6900 and 6800 series cards:

  • 3DMark Vantage: 7 percent improvement
  • 3DMark05: 3 percent improvement
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops: 20 percent improvement at 4xMSAA, up to 35 percent at 8xMSAA
  • Batman Arkham Aslyum: 4 percent improvement
  • Metro 2033: 28 percent improvement at 4xMSAA

The new drivers for AMD will go live this Wednesday (26th), while the GeForce 266.58 WHQL drivers adds full compatibility for GTX 580 and 570 cards. In addition, there is also support for occlusion for SCII: Wings of Liberty and new 3D Vision projectors, all-in-one PCs, DLP HDTVs, as well as desktop LCD Monitors.
