ASRock Hopes They’re First to Market with AM3+ Motherboards

Based on the blueprints we’re seeing, ASRock is getting ready to be one of the first manufacturers to launch a motherboard featuring AMD’s next-gen “Zambezi” Fusion Black CPUs. Their board is to be dubbed the ASRock 890FX Deluxe5 and it’ll be based on the AMD 890FX + SB850 chipsets. While it’s to be released by the end of this month, the socket will still be compatible with existing AM3 Phenom II and Athlon II processors and of the course upcoming 8-core AM3+ chips as well.

Specs wise, there’s four DDR3 memory slots, two PCIe 2.0 x16 slots, two PCIe x1 slots, two legacy PCI slots and one PCIe x4 slot. In addition, there’ll also be four USB 3.0 ports (two on rear I/O and two for front panel), a total of eight SATA 6Gbps ports, two IEEE 1394 ports, 7.1 HD Audio with Content Protection (Realtek), THX TruStudio PRO and Premium Blu-ray audio support. That was quite the mouthful, and on top of that there’s the UEFI BIOS interface that will take drives larger than 2TB along with ASRock’s Turbo UCC feature that allows overclocking while maintaining low power consumption by just pressing a button.

No price was mentioned for the 890FX Deluxe5 at the time of writing this article.
